Paying for hospital care in China
Prepare hospital deposits, payment methods and receipts before travelling to China.
Request a free consultationHospital deposits and final bills
Ask the hospital for a written estimate, deposit amount, payment deadline and refund terms. A deposit is not a fixed final price: further tests or changes in care may change the bill. Pay only through channels confirmed by the hospital billing office.
Cards, WeChat Pay and Alipay
Foreign visitors can set up supported overseas cards in WeChat Pay or Alipay, subject to identity checks and issuer rules. Confirm the hospital accepts your payment method and ask about transaction limits, exchange costs and fees. Test setup before travel and arrange a backup; an app that works for shopping may not work for a large hospital deposit.
Bank transfers
Request beneficiary details directly from the hospital, check the account name and patient reference, and verify any change through a known hospital contact. Ask your bank about currency, transfer availability, charges and processing time. Allow time for the hospital to confirm receipt.
Keep an audit trail
Keep the estimate, deposit receipt, transfer confirmation, itemised final invoice and refund records. Ask for the patient name and passport details to be recorded correctly. Request any documents and translations your insurer needs before leaving.
Consultation is free. Sino RX is an independent facilitator. Our separate coordination fee is paid to Sino RX according to a written quote; hospital fees are paid directly to the hospital.
